Lloyd D. Fairfield, age 86, of Glenwood died peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Glacial Ridge Hospital. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 21st at Glenwood United Parish with Pastor Kelby Werner officiating. Lloyd David Fairfield was born on December 14, 1939, in Osakis, Minnesota to John Franklin “Frank” Fairfield and Myrtle Magdalene (Stenson) Fairfield. Lloyd's father passed away when he was young, leaving Myrtle to move Lloyd and his infant sister to Starbuck, where she opened a cafe and later married Frank Steen, expanding Lloyd's family with two more siblings. Lloyd attended school in Starbuck and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1958. After high school he moved to Benson where he worked and was united married to Darlene A. Johnson. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 30, 1959. He served his country and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1961. While serving in the Army Lloyd and Darlene welcomed two children, David and Debbie, while stationed in Oklahoma. The couple later divorced.

After his discharge, Lloyd moved to California, where he embarked on a career in truck driving. His journey took him from driving cement trucks to driving and training new drivers for Schneider Trucking and other companies, eventually achieving over 2 million miles trucking. Lloyd was married to Nancy Hastings of Benson for a short time before divorcing and re-marring Darlene until their relationships eventually ended.

In 1991, Lloyd settled in Glenwood, Minnesota purchasing a home next to his sister, Becky, and her husband. He continued his passion for driving as a truck driver for the local garbage company and working at the landfill, which later became known as TKI. Lloyd continued to work until he retired at the age of 70. Retirement for Lloyd meant enjoying Folger's coffee and his favorite beer, watching his favorite television shows, and spending time with family and friends. He was a man of many tales, some so great that they left listeners questioning their facts, but always entertained. For the past several years, Lloyd was a resident at Parkview Court in Glenwood and this last year, he received care at Glenwood Retirement Village.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Debbie (John) Richey of Maricopa, Arizona; his step-son, Shawn Dyke; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; along with his sister, Becky (David) Elwood of Glenwood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Fairfield; his mother, Myrtle Steen; stepfather, Frank Steen; his son, David Fairfield; sister, Julie Lokken; and brother, Randy Steen.
