Margaret L. Hofmann, age 74 of Brooten, died Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20th at St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten. Visitation will be Thursday, May 19th from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home in Brooten. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the St. Donatus Catholic Cemetery in Brooten. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Brooten.
Margaret Lynn Hofmann was born May 11, 1948 in Loup City, Nebraska. She was the second of eleven children born to parents, Robert and Alice (Anderson) Hammond. The Hammonds were a farming family. While Margaret was a child they lived on various farms and she attended multiple schools before graduating from Brooten High School in 1966. Margaret was a member of St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten.
On May 13, 1972, Margaret was united in marriage to Robert Hofmann at St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten. They made their home in Brooten and were blessed with two children, Leslie and Brian. The two shared 44 years of marriage before Robert died on October 14, 2016. Throughout her working years, Margaret worked as a secretary for several companies. She enjoyed bowling and participated in multiple state bowling tournaments and two national tournaments. She loved to cook, entertain and spend time with her family. Margaret enjoyed rides on the side by side ATV, fishing, playing cards, games, gardening and the outdoors. She will be remembered as always thinking of everyone before herself. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She was always up-beat with a great sense of humor and had a love for adventure and music. Margaret died unexpectedly on May 13, 2022 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Jeff) Murdock of Brooten; son, Brian (Michelle) Hofmann of Brooten; grandchildren: Tyler (Ann Hagen) Murdock, Hunter Murdock, Alex (Marie Kaiser) Hofmann and Madison Hofmann; sisters: Cheryl (Louis) Sarno, Pat Westman, Pam (Keith) Solvie, Mary (Jim) Bakke; brothers, Bryce (Olga), Steve (Diane), Ronald, George (Carol) and John (Luanne Brault) Hammond; brother-in-law, David Hofmann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hofmann; her parents, Robert and Alice Hammond; her husband’s parents, Walter and Irene Hofmann; her brother, Bob Hammond; nephew, Ryan Hammond, niece, Margo Hofmann: and brothers-in-law, Dave Westman, Marlin, Vernon, Donald, and Dennis Hofmann.
