Marjorie Kinzler Obituary

Marjorie R. Kinzler, age 88 of Brooten, died Friday, August 6, 2021, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 11th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.

Marjorie Rosella Ehn, daughter of Carl and Myrtle (Rasmussen) Ehn, was born October 25, 1932, in Willmar, MN. She was the first born of the couple’s four children. Marjorie grew up on a farm near Pennock. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then Willmar High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1950. On November 8, 1952, Marjorie was united in marriage to Chester Roy Kinzler at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock. The couple made their home in Grand Rapids, MN for seven years, before moving to New London and then Brooten.

Marjorie worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Brooten for 20 years. She also worked at the Bonanza Valley Voice and as a secretary at Brooten High School and Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the local Homemaker’s club as well as WELCA and she sang with the Trinity Lutheran Church choir. Marjorie’s hobbies included knitting, crafting, reading, and feeding/watching birds in her yard. She enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and spending time with family; for years serving as hostess for holidays and family birthday parties.

Marjorie had been a resident at Glenwood Retirement Village for years prior to her death on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Glacial Ridge Hospital. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the administration and staff at GRV for the excellent care they provided Marjorie during her time there. They would like to especially recognize Mary Beth, for the friendship she forged with Marjorie, which enabled Marjorie to endure the COVID-19 restrictions.

She is survived by her son, Richard Kinzler of Snow Hill, NC; three daughters, Barbara (Arthur) Quade, Kathryn (Pete) Hansen, and Heidi (friend, Jennifer) Kinzler, all of Brooten; grandchildren: Chris, Jason, and Ryan Quade, Nichole Mulvehill, Anna Graham, Dane and Eric Hansen, April Gibson, Shane, Dillon, Cody and Travis Kinzler; many great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; a sister, Delores (Toby) Crawford; two brothers, Dennis (Sue) Ehn and Donald Ehn; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester (in 2014); one son, Robert Kinzler; and daughter-in-law, Verna Kinzler.
