Marlys Jane Kittel Aupperle, the daughter of John and Martha Kittel, was born on August 5, 1942. She grew up on a modest family farm south of Brooten and attended grade school at District 13, a one-room school house, before graduating from Brooten High School.

Marlys married Aaron Frederick Aupperle on December 26, 1961. They raised three children - Merilee, Troy and Lisa while traveling extensively throughout the US and abroad due to Aaron’s flying career. During this time, she worked for various companies in secretarial and accounting positions. Later she moved back to Minneapolis and started a successful house cleaning business. In 2001, she moved to Alexandria, MN and devoted the last twenty years of her life to supporting her son’s business from humble beginnings to the success it now enjoys.

Along the way she enjoyed spending time with her children, siblings and extended family and friends. She loved traveling, good meals, celebrations, riding on the back of a Harley at Sturgis, and was comfortable just being herself.

Marlys will always be remembered for being a “plucky” little woman paired with a quick wit and a sharp mind.  She was never at a loss for words to describe how she felt about something. She was a gracious hostess, sincere friend, and her love and generosity were a true reflection of God. She used to say, “Thank you for loving me.”

We are grateful for the time we had with this very special woman and for her love for us.

Marlys is survived by loving family and friends: John Kittel, Aaron Aupperle, Merilee Retzloff, Troy Aupperle, Lisa Aupperle, Julie Kraft, Mark Searcy, Bruce Schluter, Daniel Schluter, Todd (Amy) Kittel, Jeff (Karrie) Kittel, Kelly (Troy) IsheTonia (Billy) Yuker, Dustin Kraft, Ashlee Kittel, Tyler Kittel, Gabby Kittel, Connor Kittel, Kayla Ishe, Emma Ishe, May Jorgenson, Colleen (Bruce) Peterson, Linda Larson, JoAnn Pettit, Velia Stodieck, Delphine Gresham, Janelle Goodermont, Delores Auberg

She is proceeded in death by her parents, John and Martha Kittel, her sisters, Mildred Searcy and Evelyn Schluter.
