Michelle "Missy" Kliber, age 57 of Glenwood, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. A Celebration of Missy's life will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30th at the Glenhaven Manor Community Center in Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Michelle Lee "Missy" Kliber was born on April 8, 1966, in Little Falls, MN. She grew up in nearby Sobieski and was the youngest of five children born to Louis Kliber and Maxine (Carlson) Kliber. Missy attended school in Little Falls and later, Elk River, where she graduated from high school in 1984. She then furthered her education at the University of Minnesota in Crookston. Missy's love for the outdoors and her community spirit were evident as a beloved campground host for numerous state parks and campgrounds. She was also an active member of the Eagles in Elk River.
On November 29, 1986, Missy married David Steinhofer in Glenwood, MN. They made their home in Sedan and were blessed with three children, Ryan, Ashley, and Amber. Although their marriage later ended in divorce, the family shared many fond memories. Missy later found love again and married Dale Lutterman on May 3, 1997; this marriage eventually ended in divorce as well, but Missy and her children remained in touch until Dale passed away.
Missy's life was a testament to her loving and friendly nature. She had an unwavering dedication to her family, including her children, her beloved grandchildren, siblings and her cherished dogs, Jamey and Simon, and grand dogs, Daisy and Angel. Missy loved camping, riding her Harley, cooking, baking, and her trips to her river lot at Wahoo Valley. She will be forever remembered for her exceptional cooking, her desire to feed everyone, and her love for her grandchildren, whom she doted on. Missy's legacy is marked by her dedication as a volunteer at state parks, her reputation as a social butterfly, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Steinhofer of Glenwood, daughters, Ashley (Nathan Gieser) Steinhofer of Villard, and Amber Steinhofer of the Twin Cities; grandchildren, Michael and Vayda Steinhofer; her sisters, Karen Beghly, Helen (Mark) Madden, Janice (Mark Banks) Kliber; her brother, John Kliber; and her special friend, Bill Henke, held a dear place in her heart; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and former husband, Dale Lutterman.
