Myra Olive Dalager Brenden was a centenarian of nearly 102 years. As a result of her faith in Jesus, she met her Savior on February 2, 2022. She was a faithful servant of God and has now claimed His promise of eternal life in Heaven. She loved the Lord and courageously declared her faith and message of God’s saving grace.

Myra Olive Dalager was born March 30, 1920 in rural Glenwood, MN to parents William E. and Anna Maria Ester (Lee) Dalager. She was delivered by her father. She was baptized, confirmed, and later married Clermont H. Brenden at Barsness Lutheran Church. She graduated from Glenwood High School and from the Glenwood Teacher Normal Training program in 1938 and 1939, respectively. Myra taught in rural schools near Starbuck from 1939 to 1943.

Later Clermont, Myra, and their young son, Harold, moved to Seattle, Washington for two years where Myra worked for Boeing. They returned to Minnesota in 1949 and settled in Willmar.  Myra returned to teaching and enrolled at St. Cloud State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1966.  After earning her degree she taught for one year at a Kandiyohi rural school and 17 years in Atwater Public Schools. During these years she was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church, teaching vacation Bible school and release time classes. She was also involved with ALCW, Circle, and choir.

Myra is survived by her three sons, Harold (Cheryl) of Rapid City, SD, David of Rosemont, MN, and Paul (Teri Lynne Nelson) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Eric (Laura) of Maplewood, NJ, Travis (Tammy Newcomb) of Webberville, MI, and Kayla Brenden of Middlebury, VT; three great-grandchildren, Eliana and Zachary of Maplewood, NJ, and Isabella of Webberville, MI; and two brothers, Kenneth Dalager of Glenwood and Gerald Dalager of Titusville, FL; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
