Nancy Jo Dieter was born on September 26, 1958, in Morris, Minnesota, to George and Clarice (Olson) Dieter. Following graduation from Chokio-Alberta School in 1977, she studied early childhood development, and earned a degree from Mayville State University.
In 1983, Nancy married Kent H. Stevenson. While living in Grand Forks, they welcomed their first child, Cody. The family later moved to Topeka, Kansas, where Nancy ran a daycare and gave birth to BreAnna. In 1996, Nancy and Kent parted ways, and in 2002, as her Multiple Sclerosis progressed, she returned to Minnesota, settling in Glenwood, to be closer to family.
Nancy was a strong, generous and determined woman, known for her organizing skills and green thumb. She loved children, working in her beautiful garden and creating mosaic art. She spoiled her beloved dog, Cooper, as well as the many other dogs she adored throughout her life. Nancy passed away peacefully, with her children by her side, on January 22, 2025, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, following a life-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cody Stevenson (Kendal) and BreAnna Stevenson; her cherished grandchildren, Georgiana, Urban, Isla, and Lochlan; her mother Clarice Dieter, siblings, Jim (Sue), Lou Ann (Al) Hutchison, and David (Lisa); along with many relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, George Dieter.
The family is deeply grateful to the dedicated staff at Glacial Ridge Hospital for the compassionate care they showed Nancy.
