Nancy Terhaar, age 78 of Sedan, died Friday, May 29, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Services are to be held at a later date with inurnment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sedan.
Nancy Kay Terhaar was born on March 12, 1948, in Kingman, Arizona, the first of three children to Carl and Billie Jean (Hopkins) Griffith. Nancy grew up in Kingman and graduated from Kingman High School in 1966. She later continued her education at the University of Minnesota, Morris, where she earned a degree in teaching.
After high school, Nancy worked in sales for Thomas Temp in California for 10 years. On July 3, 1997, Nancy was united in marriage to Timothy Terhaar in Sisseton, South Dakota. Together they made their home outside of Sedan, Minnesota, where they built a life filled with love, companionship, and family. After settling in Minnesota, Nancy worked at Minnewaska Area Elementary School in Glenwood, where she served as a reading recovery teacher for first grade students for five years. She also enjoyed working with summer recreation programs.
Nancy will be remembered as someone who could always be counted on, and she took great joy in caring for those around her. She especially adored her grandbabies and loved them fiercely. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed scrapbooking, card making, and collecting and selling antique toys.
She died Friday, May 29, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Tim Terhaar; her son, Darrin Bracken; step-sons, Benjamin (Erin) Terhaar, and Adam (Rachel) Terhaar; step-daughter, Christina Terhaar; and her beloved grandchildren, Amelia, Olivia, Silas, Chelsea, Daniel, Avery, and Rhett. She is also survived by her best friend, BK Freiday, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl Jr. “Bud” Griffith; her sister, Susan Barbour; and her nephew, Blake Griffith.
