Paul Fredrick Hoffman, the son of David George and Pauline (Haugen) Hoffman, was born February 23, 1964 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He and his younger brother, Eric, were raised in Minneapolis, MN, and North Olmsted, Ohio. After graduating from North Olmsted High School in 1982, Paul attended Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland.
Over the years Paul worked a variety of jobs, including driving trucks over-the-road, working as a private security guard, and cooking, serving and delivery in the food and beverage industry. He was never interested in a desk job; instead he always preferred work that allowed him to be physically active and engaged with people.
In 1992, Paul moved to Glenwood, MN, his mother’s hometown, to be nearer to his parents who had retired there earlier that year. Paul worked various jobs in the Glenwood area, most recently at Jimmy John’s in Alexandria where he was employed for six years before serious health issues forced him into early retirement.
Paul was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. He valued family, especially his relationship with his brother, Eric and his beloved niece, Alice. He also enjoyed close-knit relationships with extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a lifelong fisherman; a hobby he learned from his dad. Following a lengthy illness, Paul passed away at the age of 58 on May 5, 2022 surrounded by family, at Glenwood Village Care Center, under the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline Hoffman of Glenwood; his brother, Eric (fiancée Sarah Sullivan) Hoffman of Baltimore, MD; his niece, Alice Hoffman; an uncle, Dave Benton; three aunts, Virginia Cahoon of Forest City, IA, Sonia Byrd of Nashville, TN, and Darla Haugen of New Hope; 11 cousins; along with other family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, David Hoffman in 2015; maternal grandparents, Palmer and Helen Haugen; and paternal grandparents, Herman and Lilah Hoffman.
