Paul Weisel, age 83, of Crossville, TN, and formerly of Lowry, MN, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023, at his home. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry, with Pastor Bryan Taffe and Pastor Don Berheim officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Paul Harold Weisel was born to Harold and Lillian (Kroupa) Weisel on December 31, 1939 in Glenwood, Minnesota. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1958, after which he did construction jobs with his brother-in-law for many years. On August 20, 1971 he married Delores "Dee" Nokleby and the two had four children, Rob, Fred, Larry, and Linda. Paul held many offices in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry; was a local Boy Scout troop leader for many years, and part of many farming organizations.
Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling, especially in his motor home. He spent many hours tending to his garden where he grew raspberries, corn, watermelon, and potatoes. He also loved making lefse and taught many people how to make it themselves.
Paul and Dee remained on the family farm and tended to the dairy cows and crop fields until they retired in 2017 and moved to Arizona. In 2023, they moved to Tennessee to be closer to family. On October 21, 2023, Paul passed away peacefully among family in his home in Crossville, Tennessee having lived to the age of 83.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Dee Weisel; their children, Rob (Rob Hegarty) Weisel, Fred (Sharyl) Weisel, Larry (Christi) Weisel, and Linda Pieper; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six siblings, June Jordahl, Harvey Weisel, Roger Weisel, Audrey (Richard) Sanford, Rosemary Ludowese, and Ronald “Ronnie” (Nancy) Weisel; sisters-in-law, Helen (Don) Berheim and Marcia Weisel; close family friends Brittany, Tiffany, and Kasey; and many more family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Harold Weisel; brother, Eugene Weisel; sisters-in-law, Marlys Weisel and Beverly Weisel; and brother-in-law, Merle Jordahl.
