Robert “Bob” Joseph Schroedl, son of Louis and Agnes (Huhn) Schroedl was born on March 18, 1929 in New Ulm, MN. Bob attended St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary school and New Ulm High School, graduating in 1947. In 1948, he went to work for Lampert Lumber Company in New Ulm. His career with Lampert spanned 40 years and included various positions within the Company including lumber yard manager, purchasing agent, and controller. Bob did spend time away from the company to serve his Country for 20 months during the Korean War, 9 of which were spent in Korea in 1952. During that time he earned the Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Star, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Bob was united in marriage to Magdalene “Maggie” Hofmann on July 3, 1951, in New Ulm. The pair made their home in New Ulm. In 1955 they moved to St. Paul, later Mendota Heights and it was there that they raised their son and three daughters. Following Bob’s retirement from Lampert Lumber in 1988, he and Maggie moved to their retirement home in Glenwood, where they settled in the Baycrest community on Lake Minnewaska. For many years during his retirement, Bob drove vehicles for Marthalers. He enjoyed the hours he spent delivering vehicles.

Over the years Bob served on various boards, including the Minnewaska Golf Club and Baycrest Homeowner’s Association. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and wintering in Florida, Texas and Arizona with Maggie. He also looked forward to his Canadian fishing trips. Bob was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing dominoes with his family. He enjoyed pontoon rides and will be remembered for making kiddie cocktails for his grandchildren. While in Mendota Heights, Bob and Maggie were members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where Bob volunteered to assist with the church finances. When they moved to Glenwood, they became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

After a brief stay at Glenwood Village Care Center, Bob died there on Thursday, August 12, 2021, under the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice, having lived 92 years.

Bob is survived by Magdalene “Maggie”, his wife of 70 years; their son, Rob (Kristi) Schroedl of Eagan; their daughters, Barbara (David) Niemand of Montevideo, Patricia (Michael) Weyandt of Alborn, and Suzanne (Jack) Pitman of Rosemount; his brother, James (Barbara) of Stillwater; 10 grandchildren, Shawn (Rachael) Ferry, Leah (Matt) Moe, Christopher (Hayley) Niemand, David (Danielle) Weyandt, Molly (Matt) Shemberger, Kelly Weyandt, Allison (Chris) Brown, Michael Schroedl, Leslie (Chris) Platzer, Chad (Janelle) Pitman; and 12 great-grandchildren, Rease, Chelsi, Riley, Deacon, Braeden, Alice, Phillip, Marcello, William, Sloane, Caleb, and Asher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome; and son-in-law, Michael Ferry.
