Russell L. Wold, age 72 of Brooten, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the VA Health Care System in St. Cloud. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Brooten and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.
Russell Lynn Wold, the son of Allen and MaryLydia (Martinez) Wold was born June 27, 1949 in Canon City, Colorado. Russell grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and New London, Minnesota, and attended school in both locations. In June of 1967, he joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in July of 1970. After his time in the service, Russell worked as an over-the-road truck driver in Colorado, Minnesota, and California until his retirement. For the past several years he made his home in Brooten, Minnesota and wintered in Colorado and Arizona.
Russell was a member of the American Legion and was very proud to have served his country. He loved fishing, going to flea markets with his brother Ferrin, having coffee with friends, singing karaoke, and riding his motorcycle. Most of all Russell enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Lynn (Mary Beth) Wold of Brooten; daughter, Krystal (Robert) Clark of New London; eight grandchildren, Kara Wold and Eli Wold of Brooten, Jack Clark and Katelyn Clark of New London, Anthony Ramos, Raymond Ramos, Rick Helmick, and Jenna Welch-Diaz all of Colorado; five brothers, Gene (Mary Jo) Wold, Alex (Linda) Wold, Ferrin (Roberta) Wold, Scott (Darryl) Wold and Bryan (Michelle) Wold; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents Allen and MaryLydia; two children in infancy; and the mother of his children, Catherine (Peterson) Wold.
