Sara Edmunds, age 63, of Starbuck, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A visitation and prayer service for Sara will take place from 10:30 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the David and Sara Edmunds Farm, 17161 320th Ave, Starbuck, MN 56381. Pastor David Wallin will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Lowry, MN. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Sara Linnea Baltzer was born on April 26, 1957, at Windom, MN. She was the fourth of five children born to Alvin and Anna (Wiebe) Baltzer. When she was two years old her family moved to Fergus Falls where they lived for a short time before settling on a farm near Pelican Rapids. Sara attended rural country school and then Pelican Rapids High School, graduating with the Class of 1975. From there she went on to further her education at Fergus Falls Community College. As a young adult Sara worked a variety of jobs. She eventually followed her sister, Barb, to Morris where she took a job at the Morris Sun Tribune. It was during this time that she met David Edmunds, her future husband, at a Bible Study.

On March 16, 1985, she was united in marriage to David Edmunds at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris. The two made their home on David’s farm near Starbuck. Following their marriage, Sara quit her job at the newspaper, but later went to work for Tanis Aircraft in Glenwood, designing wing covers. After the birth of their son Clinton, Sara devoted herself to being a fulltime mother and wife. When it came time for Clinton to begin his education, Sara and David decided to homeschool and became active in the local homeschool group known as H.O.M.E. (Homeschoolers Organized for Meaningful Education). The family made many lifelong friends through homeschooling and for several years enjoyed hosting the group’s annual spring picnic at their farm.

Sara kept a very neat and tidy home. She was a good cook and patiently catered to her husband’s picky eating habits, even going so far as to assemble a cookbook of recipes he would eat! She loved to care for her garden, watch birds at her feeders, and snuggle with her cats which she called her “Furbies”. She was well-known in the area for her unique ability to create beautiful and ornate custom lamp shades. She also found tremendous joy in riding her Honda 650 Shadow motorcycle, which she nicknamed Ruby. Her greatest joy, however, was her relationship with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, followed closely by her love for her family and friends. Sara was a faithful member of Lowry Gospel Hall.

In September of 2008, Sara suffered a stroke which required prolonged hospitalization and rehabilitation. After battling back from the stroke, she suffered a serious seizure and most recently, she was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a digestive disorder which made breathing difficult. She passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital Emergency Room. She is already greatly missed.

Sara is survived by her husband of 35 years, David Edmunds, their son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Shanda of Cyrus; her siblings, Barb (Dennis) Best-Peterson of Motley, Bruce (Linda) Baltzer of Longmont, CO, Brian Baltzer of Yucca Valley, CA, and Faleigh (Tim) Coleman of Soldotna, AK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Anna Baltzer.
