She was the first of four children born to the couple, and their only daughter. Shana and her brothers were raised four miles west of Glenwood. She and her family were members at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Shana attended elementary school in Glenwood and graduated from Minnewaska Area High School with the Class of 2000. While in high school, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Glenwood Retirement Village (GRV). In the fall of 2000, Shana enrolled at Moorhead Technical College where she studied for a short time before returning to Glenwood and her former job at GRV. Shana enrolled at Alexandria Technical College, where she completed the Licensed Practical Nursing program. Shana continued her nursing career at GRV until the birth of her youngest child, when she cut back to “on-call” status before eventually becoming a fulltime stay-at-home mom in 2019.

Shana was united in marriage to Kevin Zins on October 22, 2011, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Villard. Their marriage was blessed with two sons and one daughter. They made their home in Glenwood before moving with their children to Benson in 2018. Shana and Kevin were members at St. Bartholomew’s in Villard.

Shana enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, and board games. She liked four-wheeling, deer hunting, camping, and socializing with friends. She had a good sense of humor and was a great storyteller. She was a loving wife and faithful companion to Kevin, and a doting and devoted mother to son, Brair, and daughter, Emma. She was a caring, dependable, and responsible big sister to Orlin, Alan and Jonny and a woman who made her parents proud and brought them much joy.

Shana passed away due to health complications on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
