Steve Schuett Obituary

Steve Schuett, age 62 of Glenwood, died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31st at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry with Pastor Bryan Taffe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Steve Michael Schuett, the son of David and Donna (Pischke) Schuett, was born on July 6, 1960 in Starbuck, MN. Steve’s early years were spent growing up with his five siblings in Lowry. When he was older, his parents moved to a property on Lake Reno. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1978.

Steve worked at the grocery store in Glenwood and with his father doing construction before being hired by the railroad where he worked as a railway gangman. He eventually went back to construction and ultimately  started his own construction business.

Steve was united in marriage to Hope Frederick on February 14, 1986 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. They began their marriage in Lowry and later moved to Lithia Springs, GA, before moving back to Minnesota, where they made their home on a farm outside of Glenwood. It was there that they raised their three children, Michael, Hannah, and Matthew.

Steve loved the outdoors and being with his family. He enjoyed classic cars, history, adventure, and appreciated photography, rocks, and nature. He connected deeply with music, mostly classic rock, bluegrass and folk. Steve loved the Lord and instilled that love in his family. Steve will be remembered as a kind, loving, and humble soul who loved his family tremendously. He died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at home.

Steve is survived and deeply missed by his wife of 36 years, Hope Schuett; their three children, Michael (Amanda), Hannah (Nicholas) Gilbert, and Matthew; three grandchildren, Grace, Avery, and Luke; his parents, David and Donna; his five siblings, Nancy (Terry) Brown, Mark Schuett, Wayne (Dawn) Schuett, Kelly (Kevin) Petersen, and Debbie (Kevin) Dallum; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Nellie Schuett and Walter and Tena Pischke.
