Susan Joan Hunter Ladd Bodeker, the daughter of Isabel (Hunter) and Roy Ladd, was born June 17, 1940 in Glenwood, Minnesota. She grew up in Villard, where she attended school and was a member of Villard United Methodist Church. She was a 1958 graduate of Villard High School.

On August 2, 1959 Susan was united in marriage to Boyd Bodeker. The couple made their home in Glenwood. This marriage was blessed with four children, Brenda, twins, Kevin and Steve, and Bridget. Susan and Boyd shared 48 years of marriage before Boyd passed away on March 7, 2008.

In addition to being a homemaker, Susan worked various jobs over the years. She was employed as route driver for the outstate edition of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, she worked as a hostess and waitress at the Minnewaska House, and she was a salesperson at Moen Jewelers in Glenwood.

Susan had many interests and hobbies, including reading, antiquing, photography and genealogy. When she was younger, she was a member of the Glenwood Women’s Jaycees. She was fond of the paintings of Terry Redlin and known for her extensive collection of strawberry themed items and her love of jewelry. When she was able, Susan loved attending auction sales since there was no telling what treasures she might find. Her very favorite thing, above all else, was spending time with her family.

In the last year, while living at the Estates in Glenwood, Susan had the pleasure of getting to know Pastor Mark Kahrs of Calvary Lutheran Church. Through that new friendship her faith was solidified, prompting her recent baptism to confirm her faith in Jesus Christ.

Susan passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Glenwood Retirement Village at the age of 82. May her memory be blessed.

Susan is survived by her four children, Brenda (Doyle Pregler) Bernstein of New London, Kevin (Shannon) Bodeker and Steven Bodeker, both of Glenwood, and Bridget Jergenson of Alexandria; six grandchildren: Hollie Presnall, Matthew Bernstein, Andrew Bernstein, Haley Jergenson, Kimberly Jergenson, and Brooks Bodeker; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Larry) Rising; a sister-in-law, Keenie Bodeker; two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Carolyn) Bodeker and Kerry Bodeker; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
