Theresa Lynn Harrah-Hoaglund was born on October 14, 1980, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Steven and Tamara (Rud) Harrah. Theresa's early years were spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where her educational journey began. After the loss of her father, Steven Harrah, she and her mother moved to the New London, Minnesota area, a move that marked a new chapter in her life. Theresa graduated with the class of 1999 from New London High School. Her passion for helping others led her to Ridgewater College in Willmar, where she studied nursing, a field that allowed her to extend her caring nature to those in need.
Theresa's work history was as diverse as her interests. Starting at the A & W during high school, she then embraced her bilingual abilities to work and study in Mexico during the summers. Her skills shone brightly as she became an on-call translator for Hennepin County in Minneapolis after she moved there. Eventually, she returned to the New London area, taking a position in human resources at the West Central Tribune. After five years, she transitioned to a role in home health with Touching Hearts Home Care, later known as Lake Region Home Health. Theresa dedicated eight years to serving the community in home health before she moved to Glenwood in February of 2023. She then started working part-time at Brothers Market in Glenwood.
Theresa married her beloved husband, Mark Hoaglund, on October 21, 2021, on the sands of Corpus Christi, Texas. Theresa's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed dirt track racing and NHRA drag racing, with Antron Brown being her favorite driver. She had a heart for volunteerism and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of 4-wheeling, camping, and motorcycle rides. An independent soul, Theresa's passion for travel took her on many adventures, including several cruises. Theresa's social spirit shone through her love for Bingo, cribbage, and card games with her close friends every Friday night. Her son Dominik was the light of her life, and the special bond they shared was unmistakable. Theresa's love also extended to her pets; her two special cats, Huitzilopoztli "Witzi" and Osiris, who preceded her in death, and her current furry companions, Bagel her dog, and Pumpkin her cat. Theresa will be remembered as a loving, independent, and spirited woman whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of joy, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Mark “Sparky” Hoaglund and son, Dominik Harrah of Glenwood; her mother and stepfather, Tammy and Ron Klever; mother-in-law, Sharon Hoaglund; step-sister, Kristine Barz; half-brother, Jeremy Tasler; and her special cousin and best friend, Alicia Grange; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Steven Harrah, grandparents, father-in-law, Jerome Hoaglund, brother-in-law, Peter Barz, and uncles Kurt Harrah and Mike Rud.
