Timothy Edward Callen entered into eternal life on Good Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 67. Born on November 27, 1957, in St. Paul, MN, he was the first-born son of Donald and Gloria Callen. Tim loved his birthdays which were around Thanksgiving and often landed on Thanksgiving Day, like it does this year. He shared this time with the other “Turkey Babies” in the family including his grandfather, Edward Callen, and nieces, Nicole and Maria.

The Callens moved their family to the beautiful lake town of Glenwood, MN in 1961 when Tim was 3 years old. At Sacred Heart Catholic Church he made his sacraments and later enjoyed being an usher and welcoming parishioners.

One of Tim’s first childhood jobs was collecting and selling nightcrawlers to fishermen with his brothers Scott and Marty. In his youth, he was in Scouts, was on the wrestling team and would play snow football with his brothers and neighbors. Two of Tim’s very dear childhood and lifelong friends were Jimmy Kost and Tommy Noyes. Loving nicknames Tim was known by were: Timboo, Tahoe, Crunchy, Timmy, Timmy Boy and eventually, Uncle.

At the age of 13, Tim had his first official job working for his dad at Callen’s Radio & TV. Like his dad, he enjoyed repairing things, particularly bicycles. In 1977, Tim graduated from Glenwood High School, and shortly after, he joined the US Army. Tim always showed great love for his country. Tim later attended Vo-Tech schools for culinary and car repair.

Tim loved all cats, especially his cats Mudbone and Ivy. He enjoyed nature, feeding the birds, riding motorcycles, Sprite, chocolate milk, oatmeal, deer hunting and fishing. Two of his favorite singers were Neil Young and Johnny Cash. Two of his biggest dislikes were marshmallows and bananas. He loved Minnesota sports, especially the Minnesota Gophers. He shared his love of the Gophers with his siblings by texting them updates on when they were playing and how they did.

Tim had a positive attitude in the midst of many trials, had a big heart, was a kind person and loved his family deeply. He was courageous, faithful, and had a deep faith and personal relationship with God. During his final weeks at St. Cloud Hospital, he said “No fear for heaven. Looking forward to going to Heaven. I hope God is looking forward to me”.

Tim is survived by his sister, Robin Grundman of Farmington; brothers, Scott (Denise) of Hugo, Marty (Jeanne) of Oshkosh, WI; nephews and nieces: Christopher, Chad, Cherise, Chelsea, Nicole, Jenelle, Rachel, Maria, Jacob, Holly, Tony, Adam, Andy and Austin; his uncle and godfather, Verlyn Callen, his uncle, Vernon Fossum; and many cousins. He is also survived by his son, Shawn Edward Slawson.

Tim was preceded in death by his amazing parents, Donald and Gloria Callen; his sister, Judy (Ray) Olson-Degner; and nephew, Lucas Grundman.

The family wishes to say thank you to everyone that prayed for him, visited him and cared for him. A special thank you to Jane, Gloria, Father Joe Vandeberg, Dr. Haus, everyone at Western Prairie Services, the St. Cloud Hospital staff and Father Mark Stang. With love and gratitude, the Callen Family.
