Obituary

Vicki Lea Wallin, age 70, of Glenwood, MN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at her residence. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 18th, at 7:00 p.m. at Restoration Church (formerly Minnewaska Assembly of God) in Glenwood, with Pastor Dan Risdall officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until the time of service. Inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Vicki's family is requesting that friends and acquaintances write down their favorite memory of Vicki and bring it to the memorial service or mail it to one of her children. Their plan is to gather those writings and create a keepsake book for family entitled "Memories of Her".

Vicki Lea Henningsgard, was born on June 14, 1952, in Sauk Centre, MN, to Beverly Pehrson. When she was a year old, Vicki was adopted by her maternal grandparents, Edward and Ida (Ecklund) Henningsgard. She grew up in Sauk Centre where she attended public school and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Sauk Centre High School. For many years she worked with Ida at restaurants in Sauk Centre and Grey Eagle, and later co-owned B & V’s Diner with Beverly. Years later, after Ida’s death, Vicki attended Alexandria Technical College, where she earned a licensed practical nursing degree.

In 2015 Vicki moved to Starbuck, MN. Shortly thereafter she began driving school bus for Palmer Bus Services. She loved driving bus and cared about every child along her route. Knowing that the kids enjoyed her too brought her so much happiness. She also worked part-time as a manager at Glenview Manor in Glenwood, where she resided. She enjoyed planning events and doing game nights for the other residents. Vicki also loved to play bingo, cards and enjoyed making homemade gifts for her family such as crocheted blankets, painted ceramic figurines, and shadow boxes. Vicki was a member of Restoration Church in Glenwood.

She was a fun-loving, strong family matriarch who was the glue that held her family together. Vicki died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, May 7, 2023. May her memory be a blessing.

Vicki is survived by her daughter, Sandi (Bruce) Rieland of Starbuck; her son, Cory (Alice) Fletcher of Pierz; six grandchildren, Jeff Rutten, Jackie (Shawn) Noyes, Shawn Rutten, Sierra Fletcher, Austin Fletcher and Katrina Swedal; six great-grandchildren, Zoey Rutten, Skylar Rutten, Koda Noyes, RaeLeigh Noyes, Braxton Swedal and Kaleb Swedal; three sisters, Lois Bense, Barb Robinson, and Kathy Halstead; two brothers, Glenn and Jeff (Lynn) Pagel; along with other relatives and many friends.
