Waldo Fauskee Obituary

Waldo Fauskee, age 82 of Brooten, died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Private family services will be held with burial to follow in St. Donatus Catholic Cemetery, rural Brooten. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.

Waldo Albert Fauskee, the son of Albert and Marie (Thompson) Fauskee, was born January 28, 1939 in rural Brooten, Minnesota. Waldo grew up with his parents, two sisters, and three brothers on their family farm near Brooten. He attended country school and graduated from Brooten High School in 1957. He was a member of St. Donatus Catholic Church.

Waldo entered the United States Army on December 3, 1957. He served his country and was honorably discharged on November 20, 1959. After his discharge, Waldo moved back to the Brooten area where he dated Faye Halverson. Waldo and Faye were united in marriage on August 5, 1961 at St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten. They made their home in Brooten and were blessed with three children, Erik, Stacy and Krisa. Waldo and Faye shared 27 years of marriage before Faye died August 31, 1988.

For several years, Waldo owned and operated Fauskee Excavating in the Brooten area. Later he went to work for Offutt Farms. In 1990, Waldo met Connie Detloff, who became his loving companion. Waldo and Connie enjoyed bus trips and family events. Waldo enjoyed hunting and reading history and war books. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and always welcoming family to his home. He died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Waldo is survived by his significant other, Connie Detloff of Brooten; son, Erik (Joan) Fauskee of Litchfield; daughters, Stacy (Brian) Mathison of Dent and Krisa (Lyle) Gerhardson of Spicer; grandchildren: Tyler, Morgan, Luke, Brady, Kendra, and Shena; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne Schneewind of Minnetonka; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Fauskee and Alice Fauskee, both of Brooten; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Waldo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Faye Fauskee; his grandson, Dustin Fauskee; his sister, Gloria (and her husband, Elwood) Throndrud; his three brothers, Dale, Abner (and wife, Doris), and Donald Fauskee; and his brother-in-law, Orville Schneewind.
