William "Bill" F. Schluter, age 66, of Menahga, formerly of Starbuck, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at Greenwood Connections Senior Nursing Facility in Menahga. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25th, at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will begin at noon and continue until the time of service. Interment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
William "Bill" Felix Schluter, the oldest of four children born to Russell and Mary (Linder) Schluter, was born October 7, 1956 in Glenwood, Minnesota. Bill grew up in Glenwood until 1968 when he and his family moved to St. Francis, Minnesota. He attended school and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1975.
After high school, Bill was employed by various companies before moving to a farm in rural Starbuck and managing his family's manufacturing business.
After a series of health setbacks, Bill moved to Park Rapids to live near his sister, Miriam who was able to help him with his appointments and care. He was diagnosed with colon and later prostate cancer, which he valiantly fought. When he needed more daily care, Bill moved into the Greenwood Connections Assisted Living in Menahga where he died on September 16, 2023.
Bill was a man of faith who loved God and lived out his faith every day in how he loved and treated his family. He enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his son, Neil (Lara) Schluter of Starbuck; daughters, Melissa Schluter and Natasha Schluter of Alexandria; grandchildren, Patrick Edwards, Noah Schluter, Bryce Edwards, Collin Schluter, Brady Schluter, Jordan Schluter, Sydney Edwards, Ahnah Schluter and Jessiah Schluter; two sisters, Miriam (Larry) Hiscock of Nevis, and Margo (Rick) Boyd of Park Rapids; one brother, Robert (Kim) Schluter of Osage; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Michael Schluter.
